COUNCIL officials have dropped a range of charges against a Poole property management company after taking the business to court.

As reported, Bourn Homes Group Ltd, which is based in Bourne Valley Road, had been charged with nine counts of failing to comply with regulations in respect of the management of a house in multiple occupation (HMO).

It was alleged that a series of problems were found at the property, 59 - 61 St Albans Avenue, Queens Park, Bournemouth, on dates between January 10 and April 27 this year.

On Thursday, representatives from Bourn Homes admitted two of the charges. Prosecutors offered no evidence on seven.

The two admitted charges relate to the ceiling of a dormer window in a second floor communal hallway which had perished. Bourn Homes also admitted that external guttering was full of vegetation and not watertight between January and April.

The company was fined £500 and ordered to pay a £30 surcharge and £1,000 costs.

Prosecutors had alleged during earlier hearings that smoke seals were missing or defective, a waste pipe was overflowing and the property was missing fire doors built to stop blazes for half an hour.

These charges have now been dismissed.
