FATHER Christmas will be donning his golden boots once again for Wareham’s popular Christmas parade at the weekend.

The annual event, which attracts bumper crowds to the Purbeck town, takes place on Sunday.

The colourful parade will start at 4pm and everyone is invited to join Wareham residents for their Christmas celebrations in the town centre. As usual, Santa will be the star attraction this year - and his mode of transport is usually kept a closely guarded secret until the day itself.

In previous years he has wowed the crowds by arriving in vehicles such as a white stretch Hummer limousine and even a vintage fire truck.

And in a much-loved tradition, Santa will later appear up on the roof of the town centre’s Red Lion Hotel, in front of the crowds, before making his way down the hotel’s towering 125ft chimney.

After catching his breath, he will then make himself at home in his Christmas grotto, which will be situated to the rear of the hotel where he will greet young visitors.

There will also be hot refreshments available in the town hall.
