STAFF at the National Trust's Kingston Lacy have been getting the estate ready for Christmas visitors.

From November 30 up until January 1 the house at Kingston Lacy will be transformed by hundreds of handmade decorations inspired by the creativity of four women of the Bankes family.

Contemporary art installations will be created in each room of the house.

Artist Isobel Barber has been working with volunteers to create paper decorations.

Meanwhile, florist Kay Willis and textile artist Sarah Appleton will be adding to the adornments in the house.

Illuminations will also be lit in the formal garden as darkness falls.

For the first time, visitors can create their own light display along Lime Avenue, with a new and interactive experience.

The display will also offer new vistas as Cedar Avenue and the Japanese Garden are lit up for the first time.

The illuminated gardens will open every Wednesday to Sunday night from 4-7pm.
