POOLE’S Twin Sails Bridge remains out of action today due to an ongoing “technical issue”.
The bridge first experienced a problem with the Hamworthy leaf late on Friday afternoon.
It was put in the raised position after Friday’s 5.30pm lift to allow external engineers to investigate the issue.
However, the bridge remained closed over the weekend and today the bridge is still raised with motorists and pedestrians unable to use it.
Lynne Wait, Interim Engineering Manager Borough of Poole, said yesterday: “We are aware of a technical issue on the Hamworthy Leaf of the Twin Sails.
“While we investigate the cause and the solution the bridge will kept in the raised position.
"External engineers are being consulted and we will be able to give an update as soon as possible. In the meantime, Poole Bridge is operating as usual.’’
Engineers are expected on site today to inspect the fault, a Borough of Poole spokesperson said.
