Name: Shazz Hooper
Years behind the lens: Since a child I have always been interested in photography and had a small camera to hand. Took photography more seriously when I got my first DSLR about 6 years ago.
Current Camera: Canon 5d mark iv & Sony Alpha 7 iii.
Dream Camera: Canon EOS R.
Piece of equipment you couldn’t be without: My iPhone X; plenty of Apps to help me plan my next shot.
Favourite Dorset Location: It has to be Portland, especially down by the lighthouse.
Dream Location: Iceland, mainly to capture the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).
Worst Photographic Mishap: When my Sony Camera fell out of my bag and hit the floor cracking the corner of the body, I had only had it two weeks, luckily it still works fine though.
Best photographic Success: Landing a contract with Go South Coast (More Bus) and doing a commercial photoshoot with the Purbeck Breezer Buses along their scenic routes. My photos can now be seen on the bus stops all along the routes, around Studland and the Purbecks.
Top Tip: For wildlife photography; Sit quietly, be patient and the Wildlife will come to you.
What have you gained from or liked about Echo Camera Club Dorset: I’ve learnt new locations and ideas. And have made new friends who, like me, love photography.
