SOME 30 years since the world met Siouxsie Sioux, arguably the most influential female artist of her generation, she has seen fit to visit her first solo efforts upon us. And a mixed old bag they are too, but we're fully rewarded with the piano and strings of album closer Heaven and Alchemy as she croons about catching falling stars.
Loveless is more like the Siouxsie of old but is let down by naggingly familiar lyrics, while Here Comes That Day is a soaring slice of pop-noir that should leave lesser talents a-gog. Opening track, Into A Swan has the scale and majesty that befits its maker's reputation and sets the bar high. That some of these musical hybrids fail to clear that standard is something to be glad of - Siouxsie Sioux is still reaching just beyond her grasp. Proper.
