AN interactive art exhibition that uses augmented reality to tell the story of soldiers who fought during the First World War has come to Bournemouth.

The Danger Tree collection, now on display at the Westover Gallery in Westover Road, is the invention of award-winning artists Scarlett Raven and Marc Marot.

Using the free Blippar app, the paintings transform on-screen into a 3D experience of poetry, music and animation.

The exhibition has toured the country, including museums in London, Manchester and Belfast. Now five of the paintings have come to Bournemouth to coincide with Remembrance Day on Sunday.

To create the experience artist Scarlett Raven works with camera 12 feet above a canvas, the paintings photographed and woven together into an animated story.

One of the personal experiences documented in the collection is that of 15-year- old sailor Jack Cornwell, who joined the Navy against his father’s wishes, lying about his age to do so.

The exhibition is free to view and the staff at the gallery have a device that can be used by people who don’t have access to a smartphone or tablet.
