TWO people were rushed to hospital after taking ketamine in Bournemouth last night.

Police have warned members of the public to take care after the pair fell ill in Holdenhurst Road late on Halloween night.

A spokesperson from the Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We received a report from the South Western Ambulance Service that the two people, both of whom had been out in the Holdenhurst Road area, had been taken to hospital after using the drug. They have both subsequently been discharged.

"While we have no information as to where they obtained the drugs and whether both people obtained them from the same source, we would urge people to be vigilant as it is possible there may be a rogue batch of ketamine with particularly harmful effects circulating in the area.

"We would always advise people who are thinking of taking substances such as this to think again.

"You can never be sure what you are taking when you use illegal substances and the side-effects are unpredictable and potentially life-threatening."
