RENAULT'S first deliveries of right-hand drive versions of its new Twingo have started arriving in UK dealerships.

Having previously only been available in continental Europe in left-hand drive from launch in 1993, the second generation Twingo finally comes to Britain.

Supermini-sized Twingos feature funky body styling with the claim of the largest boot space in its class.

If this isn't enough, the fashion-conscious can express themselves and add their own design flair by choosing decals to suit their own tastes, whether they are subtle, such as silver swirls on the circular door handles, or loud and sporty with double white stripes along the roof and bonnet.

The new Twingo is what Reanult describes as an eco2 vehicle and beneath its sporty exterior lurks a breath of fresh air for the environment with a frugal, economical and ecological choice of engines.

The entry-level 1.2 16V 75bhp has emissions of 135g/km and a combined mpg of 49.5, while the new 1.2 TCE 100 engine has the lowest emissions of its class for a 100bhp car at 140g/km plus a combined fuel consumption figure of 47.8mpg and a top speed of 117mph.

Standard equipment on the new Twingo Dynamique includes individual sliding rear seats, front lateral airbags, brushed aluminium effect instrument surrounds, dark carbon injected dashboard, rev counter, 15in Alizar' alloy wheels, sports body styling (foglights, body coloured side mouldings, sports bumpers) and 2 x 15W CD RDS radio.

The new Twingo GT adds in leather steering wheel, aluminium effect pedals, air conditioning, 15in Noxiane' alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and heated silver door mirrors, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, rear spoiler, visible exhaust pipe, GT sports suspension and extra tinted glass in rear windows and tailgate.

Music and connectivity is key to the spirit of the Twingo and advances in technology have been fully incorporated into its development, with the option of integrated Bluetooth hands-free telephone system as well as a TunePoint' (anchorage connection point concealed in the glove box) for MP3 players.

The Twingo Dynamique is available in seven colours: two non-metallic - Pacific Blue and Capsicum Red and five metallic - Pearl Black, Mercury, Tempest, Blaze and Extreme Blue.

The GT is available in six colours: one non-metallic - Capsicum Red, and five metallic, as per the Dynamique version.

Prices for the new Twingo start with the Dynamique trim with the 1.2 16V 75 petrol engine at £8,375 with the GT 1.2 TCE 100 at £9,995.
