ELDERLY residents have been moved out of a care home, three months after a report rated healthcare there as "poor".

Eight people have left the new nursing extension built at Windsor Court Care Home in Bodorgan Road, Bournemouth.

Bournemouth council said the decision was taken with the home's mutual agreement.

The Echo asked for a comment from the home's manager and a woman replied: "I have no comment to make at all."

The Commission for Social Care Inspection rated the home's health and management as "poor" in a report published in July.

A spokesman said: "The commission is working with Bournemouth council and the Primary Care Trust.

"We will continue to monitor standards of care closely and will consider what further action, if any, we need to take."

Cllr Barry Goldbart, cabinet member responsible for social care, said: "My understanding is the owners of the property have withdrawn the facility from us.

"I think it's because of the current problems that the home took the decision.

"I think the residents we are talking about were all from Bournemouth council."

Judith Geddes, executive director of adult and community services, said: "The home and its staff have recognised they have been having some difficulties in making the adjustments since its expansion to become a nursing home from a residential home."

The council said the home has appointed a management company to help and is "co-operating fully".

As of July, the home could take 58 people and care costs £442 to £700 a week.
