A MAN has been charged after an alleged attempt to seriously injure a female police officer with a hammer.
As reported in the Daily Echo, police were called to reports of an incident in Dale Close, Poole. shortly after 10pm on Wednesday, April 4.
It was claimed a man was banging on the door of an address in the road and using a hammer to damage vehicles and windows of homes.
When PCs arrived at the scene, it is alleged the man attempted to attack one of the officers. She sustained minor injuries.
A 35-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested and subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act.
He has now been released from treatment and has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage, possessing a knife or bladed article in a public place and threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.
He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, November 2.
