POLICE have issued a CCTV image of a suspect following a theft from a car in Bournemouth.

The victim - a local man aged in his 30s - parked and locked his Nissan Navara car on Charminster Road at around 6pm on Wednesday, September 19. When he returned to it at 5.45am the following day he saw the passenger door was left ajar.

Two bank cards, two mobile phones and a car key for another car had been stolen. He discovered that his cards had been fraudulently used at a nearby petrol station.

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image, or has any further information about the incident, is asked to contact Dorset Police on 101.

Police Community Support Investigator Jared Sharman, of Bournemouth police, said: “I would also remind people that they can significantly reduce the chance of being a victim of opportunist theft from their vehicle by following some simple crime prevention advice, such as not having items on display or leaving windows open and doors unlocked.”
