DEVELOPERS have claimed plans for a controversial housing scheme in Christchurch will take on board the concerns of residents.

Aster Group is in the process of formalising its proposals for the redevelopment of the police station and magistrates court site.

The firm held a public consultation earlier this year and many issues were raised about the scheme. These included the loss of the Pit Site car park and green space, traffic fears and the proposed retail units.

Aster Group has not provided a date for when it aims to submit a planning application to Christchurch Borough Council.

A spokesperson for Aster Group said: “We’re currently working on the final details of the planning application for the site and have included, as part of this process, the thoughts and opinions of local people and businesses, including concerns around parking in the area.

"We’ll be able to give a further update over the coming months once we’ve finalised this stage of the planning process.”

In recent months the police station has been struck by vandals. As a result most of the windows had to be boarded up after they were smashed.
