A ‘SUBSTANTIAL’ amount of cannabis plants and cash was seized from a property in north Dorset.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team searched the property in Nyland on Wednesday and seized cannabis plants at “various stages of growth”.

A police spokesperson said the drugs were being grown using hydroponics equipment with timer switches.

A large quantity of cash was also seized.

A 56-year-old man from the address is assisting officers with their investigation.

“We would always encourage residents to report any concerns and are grateful for any information to help identify those suspected of being involved in the drug supply chain,” the spokesperson added.

Last year, Dorset Police charged 129 people with drugs supply offences and a further 503 people with possession of drugs.
