A NEW Post Office has opened near Wareham which will be operating seven days a week.

It forms part of an “exciting modernisation and investment programme” across the Post Office network, the company said.

The new branch in Sandford Road has opened at McColl’s convenience store in Sandford. It will be open daily from 7am-9pm. It joins nearby branches in Wareham, Turlin Moor and Lytchett Matravers.

Customers of main UK banks can access their accounts at the new branch, with services including bill payments and cash withdrawals. As well as posting letters and parcels, other Post Office services at the new branch include foreign currency, home shopping collections, and returns.

Adam Williams, Post Office multiple account executive, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for customers to pay their bills, withdraw cash from their bank accounts, and send and collect their mail at a time and place that suits them best.

“We know how important our services are to customers, and are confident that this brand new Post Office, alongside the other branches in the area at Wareham, Turlin Moor and Lytchett Matravers, will ensure that people in the Sandford area have easy access to our services.”

The Post Office services are offered from a low-screened, open-plan counter that is integrated into the retail counter, enabling customers to carry out a wide range of Post Office transactions alongside retail purchases.

Chief Operating Officer for McColl’s Retail Group, Dave Thomas, said: We are delighted to be welcoming Post Office customers to our store.

“It offers a wide range of Post Office services alongside our extensive retail offer. As a convenience store operator we are always looking for ways to make life easier for our customers and Post Office services will be available for the full opening hours of the store in order to provide an excellent service for the local community.”

Two new Post Office branches also opened in Kinson and Barton-on-Sea after both services were out of action for more than a year.
