ABOUT a month ago, residents were invited to comment on a proposal to improve the beach/promenade at Branksome Chine. I, along with numerous residents, reviewed the proposal and a general opinion was that we do not want the structural alterations, but would like improvements to the management of the car park and promenade So far I have not seen a full analysis of the residents' views.

Suggestions I heard from residents were that palm trees and new replacement benches were unnecessary, but the creation of a drop-off point, by the removal of some parking spaces, would be a significant improvement for families. Directions to the Beach Road car park would be given by a member of the 'meet and greet' team who would assist with unloading and moving to the promenade.

This team of students etc would be employed during July and August to meet and greet, and to patrol the promenade assisting visitors and reporting back on problems.

Improving toilet cleanliness, more shower facilities and emptying of waste bins were also mentioned.

So improved management but not unnecessary capital expenditure.
