A GROUP of walkers who were competing a hike for charity ended up walking six miles more than they were meant to.
Orchard Day Nursery in Verwood organised a 12.2mile walk from Corfe Castle to Swanage to raise money for Children in Need.
However, after taking a a few wrong turns along the way, the 22 walkers ended up walking 18 miles in total which took them nine hours.
Hannah McMullen said: “There we so many ups and downs (quite literally) and one hill was so steep, we had to slide down on our bottoms!
“We all found this such a huge challenge and we all feel so proud of our achievement and all for such a worthy cause; to raise money for Children in Need.”
The group have so far raised £1,425 for Children in Need after completing a 10-hour cycle ride in August and their hike.
Families and youngsters from the nursery will take part in a pier to pier walk in October and also hold a cake sale and raffle in November.
