A taxi driver was threatened with a possible firearm near Wimborne on Tuesday.
Police were called to Holt, near Wimborne at 2.42pm following reports the taxi driver was threatened by a male customer with a possible firearm.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "The taxi driver left the area before reporting the incident to police. He did not sustain any injuries.
"Officers attended and a search of the area was carried out. One man has been detained by officers."
Connor Wiltshire-Hall, manager of The Old Inn in Holt Lane, said there were around seven police cars, including armed police vehicles, at the height of the incident.
The police helicopter was also spotted over the area at around 3pm.
“It’s unusual to see that many police around here. Police were talking to the taxi driver for ages” he said.
