AN 80-YEAR-OLD driver will appear in court following a collision which left a 61-year-old woman trapped by her legs as she sat on a bench.
The female driver from West Moors has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday September 4 for an offence of driving without due care and attention.
Police were called to a car park off Station Road in West Moors on Sunday June 10 at 2.11pm to reports of a collision involving a blue Daewoo Matiz and a parked and unattended blue Ford B-Max.
The incident took place in a car park at the rear of the Moorland Court retirement complex.
As a result of the collision, the Ford was forced into a bench. The woman on the bench had to be freed by firefighters. She was taken to Poole General Hospital for serious injuries. She has since been released from hospital. No one else was injured.
