A TEENAGER told how her dreams of being a model may have been shattered after a horrific bottle attack in Bournemouth.

Fifteen-year-old Charlotte Kitchener of Wavell Road, West Howe, received serious facial injuries when her lip was sliced in two and her eyebrow cut down to the bone in the incident at the junction of Charminster Road and Maxwell Road in Charminster.

The Oakmead College of Technology pupil was rushed to Poole Hospital and underwent a one-and-a-half-hour long operation to stitch her face back together.

The family has now issued an appeal to anyone with information about the attack at around 11.15pm on Saturday, August 25, to contact police in a bid to catch the attacker.

Charlotte told the Echo: "I was out with my friends and we walked down to Charminster.

"Some boy chucked a bottle at a girl. I felt something hit me in the face. It felt like a football.

"I looked at my friends and they were looking back at me in shock.

"My face was pouring with blood.

"I ran to the takeaway place to get some tissues.

"An ambulance came and they took me to hospital.

"It was split from my nose to my lip.

"It opened up and you could see my teeth through my lips.

"All my teeth were wobbly.

"My eyebrow was cut down to the bone and there was lots of blood.

"My clothes had to go to forensics and my top was bright red from blood.

"You don't expect to walk down the road and get a bottle chucked in your face. It's just horrible.

"I feel like I don't want to go out with my friends anymore.

"I have always wanted to be a model.

"Now I don't think I want to take it up as I won't be confident about my appearance."

Mum Lynn, 43, described the moment when she and husband Gary, 38, arrived at the scene.

The mum-of-three said: "Charlotte was hysterical and you could see her skull through the wound on her head.

"Luckily it just missed her eye. They thought her nose might be broken. It was horrendous.

"At the hospital all she wanted me to do was cuddle her.

"I just couldn't believe it because Charlotte is a very pretty girl and has always wanted to be a model.

"Her looks were her life.

"Now she thinks she's gross, but she's not."

Investigating officer DC Debbie Krainz, of Bournemouth CID, said: "There were a lot of youngsters in the area at the time of the assault and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack or circumstances leading to it."

Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to call Dorset Police on 01202 222222 or the free and confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
