KEVIN Bond confessed that several first-team fringe players missed the opportunity to impress in Cherries' behind-closed-doors friendly against Southampton yesterday.
The Cherries boss praised veteran defender Neil Young for his efforts in the match at Saints' Staplewood training ground, but admitted a few others did themselves no favours in terms of forcing their way into the side.
Bond said: "Neil Young is used to playing in the first team regularly and he showed a good attitude - I was pleased with him."
"But I was looking for a bit more from one or two players who have had first team experience.
"I would have liked to have seen more of them. They're not in the first team as we speak and they have to push hard and you want them to catch the eye.
"That's what I'm looking for even in terms of their level of being highly committed.
"It's an important game for them and they needed to show the right kind of attitude. In these games some do and some don't."
As well as Young, Brett Pitman, Sam Vokes, Danny Hollands, Shaun Cooper and Marvin Bartley all got valuable game-time under their belts.
