I SEE we now have two Echo readers complaining about the police helicopter making too much noise, either during the night or first thing on a Saturday morning. Maybe someone could have a word with any law breaking individuals out there and suggest that they confine their activities to sensible daylight hours, so that the police aren’t forced to put the helicopter up and offend or disturb anyone! Seriously, does anyone really believe, given the huge cost of sending the helicopter up, that this is done on a mere whim ? Presumably it is done as a last resort and with the intention of catching perpetrators of crime as speedily as possible? Given the huge cuts in police budgets, lack of police on the streets etc, I find it quite reassuring to know that they have this at their disposal in the fight against crime, and I for one won’t be moaning about the noise!
