IT’S set to be another sunny weekend in Dorset with plenty going on to keep all the family entertained. Here’s our guide to what’s on and where.

1. Step back in time at the Bournemouth Bus Rally in Kings Park on Saturday. There will be vintage vehicles and visitors will have the chance to enjoy rides on the historic buses across the conurbation. The event, which debut last year and saw more than 30 vintage vehicles on display, is to commemorate 116 years of bus travel in Bournemouth. The free event will take place between 9.30am and 5pm.

2. Thousands of people will line the streets of Ringwood on Sunday to watch all manner of weird and wonderful homemade vehicles race around the streets for the British Pedal Car Grand Prix. Market Square and other roads in the town centre will be closed to traffic during the event. The pedal cars will be on show at the Furlong Centre between 10am and 2.30pm, with the race itself starting at 3pm.

3. The third annual Dorset Indian Mela comes to Poole Park on Saturday. The celebration will give visitors the chance to enjoy Indian food from different regions of the country, dancing, music and more, plus bouncy castles and rides for children. Entry costs £3 per person and is free for children under 12. The event, which takes place between 10.30am and 6pm, will raise money for Julia’s House, Dorset Mind and Novaturient.

4. A host of talented local musicians will be performing at Christchurch Festival this weekend. The event, which is held on The Quomps on Christchurch Quay and attracts hundreds of people, kicks off tomorrow night and runs until Sunday. It will feature performances from the likes of Saints of Sin, Jinder, Sirpico, Black Water County, Wonky Donkeys and Lady Winwoods Maggot. Entry costs £5 on Friday, £7 on Saturday or £10 for a weekend ticket.

5. Europe’s biggest cheerleading and dance competition returns to Bournemouth this weekend. The Future Cheer Internationals takes place at the BIC between Friday and Sunday and sees teams from across the country come together for the event. All teams are in with a chance to win partially-paid bids to the USASF World Championships in Florida.

6. There will be cars, bikes and food at the Route 66 Show at Hurn Bridge Showground opposite Bournemouth Airport this weekend. Other attractions will include military vehicles, a fairground, wrestling, cheerleading displays and even drive-in movies.
