THE management board for Bournemouth's gardens has had a change of personnel.

The Lower Central Gardens Trust Board appoints members for three year terms, but councillors Robert Chapman, Ian Lancashire and David Smith have all served on the board since at least 2012.

At a cabinet meeting on Thursday when new appointments were made, Cllr Smith said: "It is disappointing coming off the trust board, I am sure I speak for my colleagues when I say it has been a real delight.

"There's none of the nitty gritty politics, just getting on with it.

"It is one of the most beautiful public gardens, one of the best in the country."

The new appointments are cllrs Mike Green, last year's mayor Lawrence Williams and the leader of the new Independent and Green group Simon Bull.

The board, which decides on issues related to the gardens including cleaning, anti-social behaviour, maintenance of facilities and ongoing projects to replace kiosks and refurbish the aviary, also has several non-council members.
