PLANS for a three-storey block of 10 flats in New Milton are set to be approved.
Several applications to redevelop the former children’s care home in Kennard Road have been submitted since the first plans to convert the building into a block of flats were lodged in 2006.
Concerns about a lack of parking on the site were raised by Hampshire County Council and echoed by New Milton Town Council however New Forest District Council planners said that this could not be used as a reason to refuse the application.
The report published ahead of Wednesday’s meeting of the planning committee, where councillors will decide whether to approve the scheme, says: “The proposal would provide 10 unites without harming the visual or residential amenity, making good use of this corner plot.
“The protected trees would not be harmed and given the limited shortfall in parking, it is not considered that a reason for refusal could be sustained.”
