A WOMAN wept in court after being charged in connection with two incidents at a property in Turlin Moor last week.

Rosie Law, who is also known as Wendy Axford, was arrested following a house fire at a house in Keysworth Road on Wednesday, May 23.

The previous day, neighbours were evacuated from their homes after threats were allegedly made.

On Friday, Law, 51, appeared before a district judge at Poole Magistrates’ Court charged with arson with intent to endanger life or being reckless as to whether life was endangered, as well as a second count of sending by public communication network a message which she knew to be false.

Law has not yet entered pleas to either of the charges.

She was remanded into custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court next month.

Police were first called to Keysworth Road for a ‘concern for welfare’.

Officers said they had reason to believe there was “escaped gas” at the property.

The address was cordoned off and those living nearby were evacuated from their homes.

Prosecutors allege police were told there were three explosive devices in the property.

After around five-and-a-half hours, officers were able to enter the property. It was then established there was no threat, it was said.

A 51-year-old Poole woman was arrested, and then later de-arrested.

The next day, emergency services returned to the same property after a fire broke out.

Six police cars, an ambulance and three fire engines were called out.

Much of the property was badly damaged by the fire, which took hold of an armchair in the living room. A woman was rescued from inside the house, and a cat which was also in the property was given oxygen and taken to a vet for further treatment.

Police shut roads in the area while fire crews extinguished the blaze.

The fire was reported by a neighbour who spotted smoke billowing from a window and heard an alarm sounding.

As details of the alleged offences were read out, Law burst into tears and began rocking.
