No trains will run between Wareham and Weymouth on Monday due to overrunning engineering works.

Passengers are urged to check before they travel - and there could also be disruption on Tuesday.

A rail replacement service will run between Weymouth and Wareham. A normal train service will run between London Waterloo and Wareham.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said engineers working to replace the track have not been able to complete the work on time owing to an engineering train breaking down.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "We are now working to a revised plan to complete the work. We sincerely apologise to those affected and ask that passengers check before they travel."

A South Western Railway spokesperson said: "While Network Rail work to get the line open again we will be providing a limited bus replacement service between Weymouth and Wareham calling at all stations.

"We know how inconvenient this is for our passengers and will be doing everything we can to restore normal services as soon as possible.

"We strongly recommend passengers check the National Rail Enquiries website before travel, and southwesternrailway.co.uk for the most up to date information."
