A NEW book showcasing the best photos of Dorset from the air has been published.
Featuring work by past and present Daily Echo photographers and other contributors from as early as 1950, Dorset from the air includes hundreds of pictures showing the county at its glorious best.
Many have been taken by Christchurch’s aerial photograph expert, Stephen Bath, who has also written the book’s foreword.
With more than four decades of experience capturing the county from light aircraft, there is no-one better placed to introduce the most comprehensive collection of its kind. Introducing the photographs, he says: “Dorset is one of Britain’s most beautiful and historic counties.
“Its 1,000 square miles are studded with landmarks that are absolutely spectacular from the air.
“Of course, I am slightly biased, but in my view the very best way of seeing the wonders of Dorset is from the air!”
As is to be expected, Dorset’s world-famous coastline features heavily but is also ably-supported by stunning shots of its rolling countryside and picturesque villages.
From Lyme Regis on the Dorset border in the far west of the county to the edge of the New Forest in the east, not one of the county’s many landmarks is not featured.
More than a dozen former and current Daily Echo photography staff members have their work featured in Dorset from the air.
The book was painstakingly put together by the Echo’s Michelle Luther who also researched the photographs.
