THIEVES targeted a works vehicle in Sherborne last weekend, stealing parts worth thousands of pounds.
The vehicle, which is being used to tarmac the new junction on the A30 near Sheeplands Lane, was moved by the offenders, who then stole parts from it.
The total cost of the theft is around £2,500.
PCSO Simon Wakely of Sherborne Town Neighbourhood Policing Team said:"Building sites are always a target as high-value items can be found."
Site owners should assess security arrangements and consider installing CCTV cameras and an alarm, he said.
"Make sure property is marked and take pictures of items for future reference, as well as noting serial numbers," PCSO Wakely added.
