A TUCKTON resident organised a breakfast party on the bridge yesterday morning to celebrate its re-opening later that day.
Tuckton Bridge reopens after work is completed "ahead of schedule"
While motorists have been cursing the disruption caused by the closure, Reverend Werner Oder and historian Alex McKinstry enjoyed an early morning picnic on the crossing, much to the bemusement of workers on site.
“The people of Tuckton have felt like they have been under siege by Bournemouth Borough Council,” Mr Oder said.
“So many people have been moaning and groaning about the closure, so we decided to have some fun by setting up a table and chairs, which is normally impossible on the bridge.
“The contractors were watching us, wondering what was going on.”
The event also gave Mr McKinstry the opportunity to promote his book, The Village of Tuckton 35,000 BC – 1926.
