A STUDENT passed away in one of Bournemouth University's halls of residence in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police were called shortly after midnight to Cranborne House on St Paul's Place following reports of the sudden death of a 20-year-old woman.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious and next of kin have been informed.

A Bournemouth University spokesperson said: "We were made aware of the death of one student, living in halls at Bournemouth University. The death is not suspicious, and next of kin have been informed."

The university is encouraging students to utilise wellbeing support facilities if they are affected in any way.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police was called at 12.20am on Tuesday 6 February 2018 to reports of the sudden death of a 20-year-old woman at an address in St Paul’s Place, Bournemouth.

"Officers attended and it was established that there were no suspicious circumstances regarding the death.

"The woman’s next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified."
