THE funeral of a "cheeky, loving" boy who died following a crash in Bournemouth will take place later this month.

Shane Junior Bartlett, who was five, was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Corsa in Naseby Road at 3.55pm on Wednesday, December 13.

He suffered serious head injuries in the collision. Paramedics, police officers and members of the public fought to save the schoolboy.

However, he was pronounced dead after arriving at Poole Hospital.

In an announcement placed in the Daily Echo, Shane's family said all are welcome to attend his funeral.

The words, accompanied by a photo of the youngster smiling in his school uniform, reads: "Tragically on December 13 2017, aged five years.

"A special boy who was loved by so many."

The service will take place at the Bournemouth North Cemetery's East Chapel on Tuesday, January 16 at 10.30am.

Anyone wishing to make an enquiry should contact Nicholas O'Hara Funeral Directors in Rowlands Hill, Wimborne on 01202 882134.

In a tribute released through Dorset Police, Shane's family said: "Our bright, happy, cheeky, loving child had the most beautiful smile and would brighten up your day, which would brighten up everyone else’s life every day.

“He will be missed by so many people, especially mummy and daddy.

“He has left a hole that will never be filled, and his twin has lost his partner and best friend. His brothers and sister are so empty without that smile from Shane Junior."

The family thanked staff at Winton Primary School for their support.

School head Neil Tarchetti told the Daily Echo everyone at the school was "deeply distressed and devastated" by Shane's death.

“At just five years old, this well-liked and enthusiastic little boy had his whole future ahead of him," he said.

"We are talking to all the children in school about what has happened and offering support where needed."
