HARDY Christmas dippers are needed for a festive swim at Boscombe to raise money for Christchurch's Macmillan Unit.

The White Christmas Dip wants people to join them to celebrate their 10th anniversary of the event.

They are hoping 1,000 people will take part in the swim at 10am on Christmas Day to raise funds for the palliative care unit at Christchurch Hospital.

The event started in 2008 with just seven people, and now, 10 years on, organiser Tom Baker is calling for people to help raise £50,000 this year.

So far, the event has collected £130,000 for the vital service.

Tom said: "This is a big ask, but if we can get every dipper to raise just £50 on a Just Giving page, we'll hit our target.

"As an incentive one of our sponsors, Gale Homes & Investments Ltd, have put up a cash prize of £500 meaning anyone who has more than £50 online donations in their own JustGiving page on Christmas Eve at 5pm will be put in a hat and one lucky person will walk away with the cash.

"Drag your work colleagues, family and friends down to raise money."
