A MAN who had a fake police badge has been cautioned after he was stopped while driving a car fitted with a covert blue light.
The man was stopped behind the wheel of a blue BMW 330 in Riverside Avenue, Bournemouth on the evening of Wednesday, September 16.
Police had received reports that a vehicle had been spotted with a covert blue light in Barrack Road, Christchurch at 6.30pm that day.
After officers pulled over the BMW, they discovered a fake warrant card on the driver during a search.
Detectives then appealed for anyone who "may have been stopped by a man in plain clothes claiming to be a police officer" to come forward.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "A 21-year-old Christchurch man has been assisting officers with enquiries and was given an adult caution for possessing an article of police uniform and using a vehicle on a road fitted with a blue warning lamp beacon, special warning lamp or a device resembling one."
