A WILLY Wonka-themed charity event saw the manager of a Dorset care home face a medieval punishment last month.

Sohail Daniel, who runs Colten Care's Newstone House in North Dorset, was put in the stocks to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Councillor Andrew Donaldson, the mayor of Sturminster Newton, joined staff and residents at the home in pelting Sohail with wet sponges before activity organiser Rebekah Goddard smeared him with two cupcakes.

Sohail said: “It was a delicious end to a rather wet few minutes but it was all in aid of a great cause and a lot of fun."

During the special event, members of the public were invited to try homemade cakes and pastries at the home.

Administrator Gill Kellythorn had the opportunity to test a 'golden' cupcake, which contained a hidden layer of edible gold leaf through the middle.

Gill also won a bottle of champagne.

Cllr Donaldson said: “It’s always a pleasure to visit Newstone House and meet the staff and residents.

“The coffee morning was great fun and, together with everyone else, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.”
