A STREET market will take place in Bournemouth later this month.

The second Metropole Market will have a 'day of the dead' theme. Thousands of people are expected to visit the Lansdowne for the event on October 29.

The market will feature a Dias de Los Muertos costume competition, with prizes awarded for 'best male', 'best female', 'best child' and 'best couple'.

There will also be a parade led by Samantha Bumford, who is both Miss Dorset 2017 and Miss England Social Media Queen 2017.

In addition, visitors can expect trade stalls and live performances from entertainers and musicians.

Lyn Turnbull, who is one of the organisers of Metropole Market, said: "Preparations are well underway for the second edition of the market, which will hopefully be just as great as the first event."

Roger Smith, interim manager of the Bournemouth Town Centre Business Improvement District, which funds the market, said: "We are extremely proud to be supporting such a great community event.

"The first market was a huge success and this project is continuously developing."

Two further Metropole Markets are scheduled for November 26 and December 17.
