AN ANGRY customer hit a shop worker with a magazine after being told he had to serve himself a pie from a hot counter.
Police were called to McColl’s in Commercial Road, Bournemouth following the incident on Thursday afternoon.
A man entered the store and asked the female staff member to serve him a hot pie.
When he was told it was self-service, the enraged customer hit the woman with a magazine.
He also damaged a till screen, according to a Dorset Police spokesperson.
“We were called at 3.50pm to reports of an assault at McColl’s in Commercial Road in Bournemouth,” they said.
“It was reported that a man entered the store and assaulted a female member of staff and caused damage to a till screen.
“Officers attended. An investigation is underway. No arrests have been made.”
Police were unable to confirm if the staff member was injured.
A McColl’s spokesperson said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance. We are working closely with the relevant authorities in response to this incident.”
