DORSET Police are urging residents to be alert over a fresh scam.
Fraudsters and bogus traders are posing as council officials or professionals in the fire prevention industry, and cold calling or visiting the homes of potential victims, citing the Grenfell Tower fire as their reason for contact.
The fraudsters are allegedly offering services such as a free or subsidised safety inspection of a property.
The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau is currently unaware of any successful attempts made by fraudsters, but residents are urged to report suspicious activity by individuals offering services in relation to health and fire safety, to Action Fraud, especially when it is suggested that they are making contact due to the Grenfell fire. Report suspicious activity to police on 101.
