TWO event experts have joined the plans to bring a street market to Bournemouth.

The event, described as “quintessentially eccentric”, will take over Holdenhurst Road on the last Sunday of each month from September 24.

Organisers have been joined by Suzy Wheeler, of Strawberry Fields RePresents, and the interim president of the National Outdoor Events Association, Andy Grove.

Strawberry Fields RePresents has provided entertainment and music at some of Bournemouth’s biggest events including Summer Live and the Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival. The company is run by Suzy Wheeler who is joining the efforts of the Metropole Market team to secure top entertainers for the market.

Suzy Wheeler said: “I am thrilled to be joining the Metropole Market team. This event will be something completely different to what Bournemouth has ever seen before. Expect the unexpected.”

Andy Grove and his company HighGrove events will be responsible for the event aspects of the market. The company’s events have included Basingstoke Live Festival, which is in its ninth year and has 10,000 social media followers.

Mr Grove said: “We plan to create a regular attraction that will add to Lansdowne’s vibrancy, attract new audiences and bring extra revenues for Lansdowne businesses. It’s going to be a lot of fun.’’
