STRICTLY champion Ore Oduba surprised some of his biggest supporters during their morning workout in Wimborne.

The BBC presenter made a personal visit to Wow Ladies Fitness in Stone Lane to thank the gym members for all their support during his time on Strictly Come Dancing last year.

He surprised the ladies during a fitness class on Friday, March 3.

Carol Southgate, owner of Wow Ladies Fitness, said, “We were just setting up for our morning step class when we got a call saying Ore would like to come in and meet us all.

“As you can imagine we were very excited.

“We’re a women only gym, but we were very happy to have Ore join us for our morning planking challenge”.

Ore, who was brought up in Wimborne, joined the step class and also showed the ladies some dance steps.

He told the team at WOW that he had a personal connection to the club as his mum, Fola, is a member.

He said: “WOW’s support was overwhelming and I feel a real personal connection with the gym.

“I know it through my mum, who loves coming here.

“It’s like a family. It meant a lot to me to know that while I was away gallivanting around dancing, they’re all looking after my mum.”

The 30-year-old had received no dance training prior to taking part in Strictly Come Dancing last year.

But in the show’s final in December he finished top of the leaderboard beating competition favourite Danny Mac and former popstar Louise Redknapp to take home the glitterball trophy.

The former Canford School pupil was one of the top contestants throughout the competition scoring the first ten of the season for his brilliant jive with partner Joanne Clifton.

He also achieved high praise from the widow of Gene Kelly following the pair’s American Smooth to Singin’ in the Rain which they chose to dance again in the final.

As well as his mum’s fitness club Ore also had the backing of Wimborne Mayor, Cllr Sue Cook, and his former rugby club.

Ore played for the club’s First XV team in the 2004/2005 season as a winger.

The club supported Ore throughout the competition and attributed his “good footwork” to his rugby training.
