THERE have been many letters regarding litter in Bournemouth and replies by various other councillors and council employees, all explaining how the town is kept clean and beautiful, and all have been very polite and gentle.
However, it is people that drop litter, not the council or any of the workers who work long, hard hours into clearing it up.
In my opinion if a full can of drink can be carried, along with the pizza wrapping or the chocolate bar papers, or the plastic coffee cups, then it will be that much lighter to take to the nearest rubbish bin, when you have finished with it.
Also the frequent lament “It keeps someone in a job” is a ridiculous excuse for laziness.
The person that they are, purportedly, keeping in a job would most probably prefer to be tucked up in bed at a reasonable hour, rather than having to be out in all weathers clearing up after other people’s disgusting behaviour.
So I say again it is people that make litter, so please take it home with you or bin it.
SUE ANDERSON
Councillor for Moordown, Bournemouth Town Hall
