THE vote of no confidence against the leader and deputy leader of Christchurch council shows that the Conservative Group on the council are burying their heads in the sand.
Neither Councillor Nottage nor Claire Bath deserve to be deposed simply because they accept the reality that Christchurch council cannot stand alone and must join with neighbouring authorities in order to ensure financial sustainability.
It would appear that their Conservative colleagues prefer to reduce local services, such as refuse collection, leisure provision, beach maintenance and parks etc by making drastic cuts, rather than improve services by joining forces with others.
