TWO motorcyclists are fighting for their lives after a head-on smash in the New Forest this morning.

Police are calling for anyone with information to come forward after the crash, which happened in Dibden Purlieu.

Officers were called to the B3054 Beaulieu Road, between Hilltop and the Heath roundabout, at 7.10am after receiving reports of a collision involving two motorcycles.

Both motorcyclists, a 29-year-old man from Fareham and a 48-year-old man from the New Forest, suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to Southampton General Hospital.

They both remain in hospital where their condition is described as life-threatening.

The crash happened on a long, straight stretch of the carriageway, and the road was closed all morning, reopening shortly after 12.30pm.

Officers investigating the collision would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either motorbikes, a Yamaha and a Honda, prior to the incident.

No other vehicle is believed to have been involved.
