A SCHOOL is among the community causes to benefit from funding as a former nuclear site is decommissioned.
Magnox, which is managing the former Winfrith site, has supported seven projects through the company’s £600,000 socio-economic scheme.
Donations include £500 towards Wool Carnival, £408 to purchase new equipment for Weymouth Amateur Boxing Club, £250 to Lulworth and Winfrith Primary School for an artist to work with children to create a spiritual garden, and £600 to Dorset Reading Partners for new book boxes for reading volunteers.
Winfrith site closure director Michael Dunnett said: “We are very pleased to be able to support the communities in which we work by funding projects that help, encourage and develop education and skills, social infrastructure and sustainable
employment.”
