FIVE people have been arrested after war medals were allegedly stolen from a home in Blandford.

Police have renewed their calls for anyone with information to come forward after the reported burglary, said to have taken place between 1pm and 9pm on Thursday, December 1.

Officers say items of jewellery and six World War One and Two medals belonging to the homeowner's father were stolen from the home in Damory Court Street.

The five arrested - two men aged 28 and 34 and both from Portsmouth, a 29-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from Southsea and a 20-year-old woman of no fixed abode - have been bailed until the end of January 2017 pending further enquiries.

All were held on suspicion of burglary.

PC Matt Weldon, of Blandford police, said: “I am releasing a picture of medals similar to those missing after the incident and am appealing to anyone who has seen these items for sale under suspicious circumstances to please contact Dorset Police.

“The medals are of great personal significance to the victim."

He urged residents to keep vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
