A SUPERMARKET which removed a defibrillator from the wall without telling the ambulance service has paid for it to be reinstalled in a different location.
The Co-op in Bransgore took down their defibrillator from the store wall earlier this month, in a move branded ‘dangerous’ and ‘risky’ by community leaders.
The defibrillator was funded by the parish council, who were unaware it had been removed until noticing it missing.
Now, the national chain has agreed to cover the cost of relocating the device.
A spokesperson said: “The Co-op has agreed to cover the cost of relocating a defibrillator at Bransgore Primary School onto an external wall.
“The Parish Council’s defibrillator that was originally on the external wall of the Co-op store will now be installed at a doctor’s surgery in Bransgore.
“With the additional device in store at the Co-op, there will be a total of three defibrillators in the village.”
Staff at the store said it was removed due to ‘a change in management policy’, but the chain failed to tell the ambulance service, council or local community responder team about the decision.
