A MAN who stabbed an acquaintance after a row at a party less than 18 months after attacking another man has been jailed for four years.

A court heard that Thomas Stevens, 26, had been drinking at a flat in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth, on September 20 2015 when he became "aggressive" and began shouting at his victim, a 26-year-old man.

The two were then involved in a row.

The victim suffered stab wounds to his chest, stomach and arm.

He also sustained a broken jaw.

The man was treated in hospital, but went on to make a full recovery.

On Saturday, June 7 2014, Stevens and another man attacked a 28-year-old man in Christchurch Road.

The victim was treated in hospital for cuts and bruises.

Stevens, of Hamilton Road in Bournemouth, admitted grievous bodily harm at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday, September 26.

He had already pleaded guilty to a separate charge of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.

The defendant was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for the earlier offence, with 16 months to run consecutively for the second.

Detective Constable Angela Singleton, of Bournemouth CID, said: "Stevens has twice seriously injured two people and I am satisfied with the sentence handed down by the courts.

"Violent incidents such as these will not be tolerated in Dorset and we will continue to bring offenders to justice."
