A PENSIONER is fighting for his life after a crash near Lymington.

Emergency services were called at 4.45pm on Monday after a three-vehicle collision left a man with life-threatening injuries on the A337.

The incident occurred on the Milford Road - which was shut in both directions - between Elm Avenue and the B3058 Lymington Road.

A spokesperson for from South Central Ambulance Service said the male casualty was conscious and breathing when he was taken to hospital.

She said: "We were called to reports of a crash between a car and motorbike.

"An air ambulance was called to the scene as well as a rapid response vehicle and an additional land ambulance," she added.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: "Police were called at 4:45pm yesterday by South Central Ambulance Service to reports of a three vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, a Volkswagen Golf and a Volkswagen Polo on the A337 between Lymington and Everton.

"The motorcyclist, a 73-year-old man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

"The road was closed but re-opened at 9:41pm."
