A LIFEBOAT crew were called to help a sports boat which had got into difficulty following last night’s fireworks display on Poole Quay.
The call came into the Poole Lifeboat Station by Solent Coastguard at 10.30pm on Thursday evening to assist the 22ft boat, which had two people on board and was taking on water near to the Parkstone Yacht Club starting platform.
After establishing that it had encountered a mechanical fault, the lifeboat crew checked that the two people were okay, before the boat was towed back safely to Parkstone Bay Marina.
Earlier in the day, the Poole Lifeboat crew were called at 4.45pm to help two people whose vessel had broken down after encountering an engine failure in Studland.
When the lifeboat arrived on scene, a crewman was transferred on-board to check that the casualties were okay before towing the vessel back into Poole Harbour. They then passed the tow to the Cobbs Quay rib who took the vessel back to its mooring.
