CARFORD Group at Ferndown has installed a kitchen and servery at Norfolk Wildlife Trust's new £1 million Cley Visitor Centre, which is partly powered by its own renewable energy sources.
The site includes a wind turbine, ground source heat pump and solar panels to produce a 79 per cent saving in energy need and reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. It also features a green roof and rainwater harvesting system for use in flushing the toilets.
Carford designed and installed an open kitchen complete with vario cookers, panini grill, combi microwave, soup well, coffee machines, dishwasher, refrigeration and racking.
The nature reserve at Cley Marshes, on the north Norfolk coast, was the UK's first wildlife trust nature reserve, founded in 1926.
It is a key birdwatching area, attracting many thousands of people each year.
